Moral Repair: A Black Exploration of Tech won two awards this fall from the Black Podcasters Association: Best Hosting Duo and Best Science & Technology Podcast.
Affirmation like this from listeners and our peers in the podcasting industry has been so lovely. Thank you all.
As we wind down the show, I’d love to know: what’s been your favorite episode? And what questions about tech do you still have?
How to keep talking about AI this month
On Tuesday, October 15, my colleagues at Everyday Democracy will talk about AI and democracy with Mutale Nkonde (AI For the People), Chelsey Cartwright (League of Women Voters), and Bruce Schneier (Schneier on Security & Harvard Kennedy School).
Mutale and Bruce both appeared on Moral Repair this year, and this discussion will be moderated by Everyday Democracy’s CEO Merle McGee. Expect real talk and practical solutions.

The mountains are calling
Next week I’ll be a few thousand feet higher in the air than normal thanks to my annual retreat in the western US. As the temperatures have dropped where I live, I’ve been looking forward to thinner Colorado air and overdue hang time with longtime cabin buddies.
My family never had a specific holiday routine, but I’ve learned there’s something good in returning to a place again and again, tracking what’s changed in it, and allowing enough time and space to notice ways you, too, have also changed.
I’ll take pictures.
New project loading
Next time, I’ll share more about my next project, part of the series Building a Moral Economy: Pathways for People of Courage.
The series launches next month with an introductory book from Dr. Cynthia Moe-Lobeda… and we’re building the website right now!
Can’t wait to show it to you.
Help after Helene
In the meantime—please send whatever funds you can to survivors of Hurricane Helene across Appalachia and the South.
I’ve been tracking down loved ones and following updates from Mergoat Magazine and the local mutual aid groups and community organizations they recommend.
Consider also funding Mergoat so they can continue reporting that keeps local people informed and connected.
Life is so precious.
Take good care, y’all.
